Job summary

South West Water, part of Pennon Group, is seeking a Mechanical Craftsperson to maintain and repair water treatment assets, pumping stations and reservoirs. You will diagnose faults, fabricate parts, and help ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires an apprenticeship in a mechanical/technical discipline and proven experience with mechanical equipment. Join a team dedicated to protecting the environment and delivering essential services.

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship in a mechanical or relevant technical discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills; able to repair complex mechanical assets.
• Sound RAMS understanding and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance, repairs and fault-finding on mechanical assets.
• Manufacture, modify and fabricate parts and equipment as required.
• Produce detailed specifications for replacement components and equipment.
• Support operational teams in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
• Work safely and comply with RAMS and safe working practices.
• Participate in standby and call-out rota to support resilience.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of asset performance and reliability.
