Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a competent Operations Supervisor to oversee the council’s waste management, recycling, refuse collection and street cleansing. You will supervise staff, monitor contractors and ensure services run to schedule and within budget, with a strong commitment to health and safety.

• Proven experience supervising or managing operational teams.
• Experience within waste management, refuse collection, recycling, street cleansing or a similar frontline operational environment.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and operational procedures.
• Strong organisational, planning and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily waste collection, recycling and street cleansing operations, ensuring schedules are followed.
• Supervise frontline operational teams and monitor performance.
• Organise staff schedules, inspections and work allocation.
• Manage agency workers and address performance or attendance issues.
• Prepare operational reports and maintain service records.
• Monitor budgets, purchasing and vehicle usage.
• Liaise with councillors, council officers, contractors and the public.
• Respond to resident complaints and resolve service issues promptly.
