Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking Refuse Loaders to join the Northallerton Depot in North Yorkshire. The role involves collecting residual, garden, food waste and recyclables from domestic properties, with training provided for those without prior experience.

You'll work as part of a small crew, with early starts and occasional weekend shifts. Safety is a priority as you support the driver with safe navigation and adhere to all working practices.

Qualifications

• No previous experience required; training will be provided.
• Health and safety awareness is important for frontline waste collection work.

Responsibilities

• Collection and emptying of waste receptacles, removing spillages, checking service lists, and reporting issues.
• Supporting the driver with risk assessments.
• Assisting the driver with safe manoeuvres to protect pedestrians and other road users.
• Ensuring the health and safety of yourself and colleagues by following all safe working practices.
• You will also receive training in cleansing duties to support operational needs.
• Working Pattern - 4 days per week, between 06:00 and 18:00; an additional £30 payment for each weekend day worked.
• You may occasionally be required to cover the Richmond area.
