Job summary

South Cambridgeshire District Council is seeking a Refuse Loader to join a four-day-week crew, collecting household waste and recycling across the local area. The job is physically demanding and requires reliable transport for the 6:00am start.

The pay is £13.77 per hour, rising to £15.00 after 12 weeks, with hours from 6:00am to 3:45pm, Tuesday to Friday. The position begins temporary and may become permanent for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and comfortable with manual work.
• Able to walk 20,000–30,000 steps per day.
• Able to lift and move heavy bins safely.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
• Health and safety conscious.
• Able to work well as part of a team.
• Able to reliably travel to work for a 6:00am start.

Responsibilities

• Loading and emptying household waste and recycling bins.
• Working as part of a team on daily collection routes.
• Walking long distances during the day.
• Lifting and moving heavy bins.
• Working outdoors in all weather.
• Following health and safety procedures.
• Taking care around refuse collection vehicle and road users.
• Completing routes safely and efficiently.
