Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Loader to join our refuse and recycling collection teams. The role involves working alongside the driver to complete daily collection rounds, operate in accordance with safety policies, and assist with dynamic risk assessments where required.

The post is Safety Critical under our Workplace Substance Misuse Policy. You will handle various urban and rural routes, liaise with customers, and assist with cleansing duties and winter gritting as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe working practices and general Health and Safety principles.
• Ability to work outside in all weathers and walk long distances.
• Manual handling responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for health and safety of self and colleagues and wearing PPE.
• Follow driver instructions during the working day.
• Complete daily tasks and assist with rounds, including routine collection duties.
• Support the driver with dynamic risk assessments and act as Reversing Assistant.
• Operate equipment in line with training and ensure receptacles are emptied and returned.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and communicate refusals via bin tag.
