Job summary

Biffa Group is seeking a Traffic Dispatcher for the Newchapel depot to support day-to-day operations by allocating vehicles and coordinating routes to deliver best in class service.

The role will focus on health and safety, vehicle checks, driver coverage, admin duties including input of pay/bonuses, and collaboration with the Depot Manager to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role in Services or Logistics.
• Experience in people and health & safety management.
• Strong knowledge of the local area.
• Understanding of transport and logistics industry.
• Experience of leading frontline operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Able to plan, organise and prioritise.
• Comfortable with tight deadlines.
• Willing to develop skills as needed.
• Proficient in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Day to day management of operational staff to achieve service goals.
• Manage route efficiency and utilise disposal outlets to optimise vehicle use.
• Debrief staff after shifts to address challenges and resolve issues.
• Monitor driver availability and ensure coverage per policy.
• Perform administrative duties including input of pay and bonuses.
• Input disposal information accurately and maintain records.
• Ensure vehicle checks are completed daily and compliant.
• Support the Depot Manager with training and toolbox talks.
• Resolve service and invoice queries with Customer Services.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and quality of service.
