Job summary

Biffa Group is seeking a Traffic Dispatcher at the Newchapel depot to support day-to-day operations and ensure best-in-class service delivery. You will allocate vehicles, monitor route efficiency, and maintain health and safety standards.

You will also engage with employees, support continuous improvement projects, and handle productivity and service quality tasks, while ensuring compliance with environmental and licensing regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar responsibility role in Services or Logistics.
• Experience in people and health and safety management.
• Strong knowledge of the local area.
• Understanding of transport and logistics industry is desirable.
• Knowledge of environmental and Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience of first line operational management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication at all levels.
• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines in a time-critical environment.
• Willingness to develop skills and knowledge for the role.

Responsibilities

• Day to day management of operational staff to achieve best in class service delivery.
• Managing route efficiency and disposing outlets for effective vehicle use.
• Debriefing staff at end of day to identify challenges and resolve swiftly.
• Managing driver availability and coverage in line with legislation and procedures.
• Performing admin duties including input of pay and disposal information.
• Controlling vehicle availability and ensuring drivers complete checks.
• Supporting the Depot Manager and delivering training and toolbox talks.
• Resolving service queries and invoice/charge queries with Customer Services.
