Job summary

Birmingham City Council’s Waste Enforcement Unit, a key part of the Council’s Environmental Health service, is seeking two accomplished and forward‑thinking leaders to drive the continued development and high‑performing delivery of the Waste Enforcement Unit.

As a senior leader you will provide operational leadership for the Waste Enforcement Team, oversee Team Leaders and the wider unit, and shape the long‑term vision to ensure effective, efficient and compliant day‑to‑day operations.

Qualifications

• Strong track record of leading and developing teams within a regulatory or enforcement setting.
• Expert understanding of environmental enforcement legislation and evidence-based decision making.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership for the Waste Enforcement Team and oversee Team Leaders and the wider unit.
• Shape the long‑term vision to ensure effective, efficient and compliant day‑to‑day operations.
• Embed an outcome‑based performance culture to achieve measurable improvements.
