Job summary

Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) in Manchester seeks a confident Front-Line Team Leader to join our Environmental Enforcement operation. This hands-on leader will guide from the front, setting standards and driving performance alongside the team.

You will manage day-to-day leadership of frontline officers, focusing on performance, officer development, compliance and operational standards to deliver a professional service in all patrols.

Qualifications

• Experience leading frontline enforcement teams.
• Background in enforcement, security or related frontline work.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Environmental Enforcement Officers on daily patrols.
• Monitor performance and ensure operational expectations are achieved.
• Coach, support and develop officers.
• Issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) where appropriate.
• Support officers during challenging or escalated situations.
• Ensure enforcement activity is professional and compliant.
• Review reports, evidence and documentation.
• Deliver team briefings and performance feedback.
• Liaise with senior management and council representatives.
• Maintain a strong front-line presence across Manchester.
