Job summary

Cornish Industrial Supplies Ltd t/a CIS is recruiting a Warehouse Team Leader to oversee daily warehouse operations in Cornwall. You will lead a small team, ensure accurate picking, goods in/out, and timely dispatches using company vehicles and carriers.

You will act as the main liaison between office and warehouse to keep processes running smoothly. The role requires a minimum of 3 years in warehousing with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant warehouse role.
  • Team leader or management experience preferred, not essential.
  • Full UK Driving license, with experience of van driving and/or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Over-see all aspects of the warehouse and lead the team to deliver on KPI’s.
  • Dispatch goods and manage outgoing deliveries on vans and with carriers.
  • Manage goods in volumes and coordinate with purchasing.

Purpose

The warehouse handles approximately 4500 stock lines and delivers daily within Cornwall using the company vehicles while also dispatching daily on nationwide carriers and pallet networks. Your position will be the team leader role in our busy warehouse taking responsibility for its performance and the members of staff working within it.

It covers two main functions;

Responsibility for the day to day running of the warehouse, ensuring the smooth running of all aspects to include; order picking, goods in, goods out and on occasion provide ad hoc cover for the main driver.

You will also be the main point of contact with the other departments in the office making sure that processes run smoothly and help identify and implement improvements if required.

Responsibilities
  • Over-seeing all aspects of the warehouse, leading and assisting the team to deliver on kpi’s
  • Daily responsibility for ensuring all staff members are able to complete their required work, leading the dispatch of goods and managing outgoing deliveries on both our vans and carriers.
  • Manage goods in volumes and workload with warehouse staff and purchasing
  • Ensuring safe and timely delivery of customers orders
  • Being the point of contact between the office and warehouse to identify problems and resolve issues, and maintaining daily contact to plan for the next day’s work
  • Completing paperwork with regards goods in/goods out as necessary
  • Stock counting as required
  • Keeping the warehouse clean and tidy bringing any potential risks to the attention of the General Manager. Includes risk assessments as necessary
  • Identify improvement opportunities within the business and when visiting customer sites and feedback to the General Manager
  • Working with purchasing to plan space required for stock lines and identifying and resolving stock issues and shortages
  • Health & safety checks on equipment and surroundings
  • Managing holiday and cover for warehouse and driver staff
  • Keyholding for warehouse
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant warehouse role, including ability to use digital delivery software
  • Team leader or management experience preferred, not essential
  • Pick & pack experience
  • Full UK Driving license, with experience of van driving and/or preparedness to learn
  • Forklift license advantageous but not essential, training can be provided as necessary
  • Good Communication skills, polite friendly manner
  • Quick learner, eager to learn and grow – hungry, humble and smart are attributes we value over skills.
