We are seeking a permanent, full-time Warehouse Operative to join our team based at our Luton Hub. It is essential that candidates are flexible to work outside of their normal core hours when required.

WHO IS THE DELIVERY GROUP?

Originally a letter delivery business, The Delivery Group has an outstanding track record for growth, taking turnover from start-up to over £250 million in the last ten years since it was established. We have been ranked several times in The North West's Fastest Growing Company report and The Insiders Growth 100 Report, as well as being included in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100. We have successfully diversified into the rapidly growing economy parcels market, capitalising on the boom in online shopping. The Group is now represented by multiple sites around mainland UK and continues to grow strongly year on year.

What You'll Do

  1. Ensure that all work is prepared to agreed productivity levels and quality standards.
  2. Work productively as a team so that mail is dispatched correctly, to agreed timescales.
  3. Guarantee that Health & Safety standards and regulations are complied with.
  4. Ensure all required paperwork is completed and provided to the appropriate internal and external personnel.
  5. Provide Management Information as agreed, in the correct format, and to agreed timescales.
  6. Act as the first point of contact for staff, escalating issues to the Supervisor as required.
  7. Liaise with the Supervisors and Processing Manager as required for relevant operational and statistical information on priorities of work, collection, and deliveries for the day.
  8. Direct the work of team members to achieve and maintain quality and productivity levels.
  9. Maintain records and review documents prepared by the team.
  10. Monitor the performance of team members.
  11. Perform the duties of a Warehouse Operative where required.
  12. Be responsible for H&S compliance for the team, reporting any breaches of regulations and accidents/near misses immediately.
  13. Communicate work practices, procedures, and methods to team members as required.
  14. Handle induction and training for new team members as required.
  15. Conduct team communication sessions with the Supervisor (team briefs).
  16. Provide accurate payroll information to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  17. Ensure the tidiness of the work area for the team.
  18. Open and/or close and secure the building as directed.

Full training will be provided during induction, and further training will be given throughout your employment to assist in progressing your career with us.

Who we're looking for

You’ll need to be a self-starter who is keen and enthusiastic, with a proactive approach and a can-do attitude. You will have good attention to detail and be able to work effectively both individually and as part of the warehouse team. You must be competent in English and Maths, with a desire to learn and a passion for success. Previous warehouse experience is desirable, and an understanding of the mailing industry is also desirable but not essential for this role.
