Job summary

Wayfair in Leeds is seeking a hands‑on Team Lead to drive efficient warehouse operations and support a motivated team. You will ensure safe, accurate, and timely processing of every shipment while stepping in to cover supervisory duties during peak times.

The role emphasizes problem solving, collaboration with 3rd parties, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. Excellent leadership and working hours align with site operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate warehouse associates to maintain productivity and service levels.
• Oversee freight operations, loading/unloading with safety and efficiency.
• Coordinate with third-party agencies, drivers, and carriers to ensure smooth operations.
• Manage sorting and dispatch to ensure accurate labeling and timely delivery.
• Champion health and safety policies and safe working practices.
• Maintain operational data and update spreadsheets for performance tracking.
• Prepare driver documentation and delivery manifests for smooth deliveries.
• Identify bottlenecks, implement practical improvements to increase efficiency.
• Provide coverage for Supervisor duties during holidays and absences.

Site Location: Leeds

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 10am–6pm / 11am–7pm

Pay Rate: £15.58per hour (inclusive of 5% shift premium)

What You Will Do

• Lead and encourage, our warehouse associates, fostering a positive, collaborative environment that drives productivity and delivers outstanding service.
• Oversee freight operations, including loading and unloading shipments safely and efficiently, ensuring goods are handled with care to prevent damage.
• Collaborating with 3rd Parties, Proactively liaising and collaborating with 3rd parties, including agencies, driver helps desk, and carriers.
• Coordinate sorting and dispatch, ensuring goods are accurately labelled, correctly prepared, and ready for timely delivery.
• Champion Health & Safety, ensuring team members follow all policies and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
• Monitor and maintain operational data, keeping spreadsheets accurate and up to date to track performance and support decision‑making.
• Prepare driver documentation, including manifests, delivery instructions, and compliance forms, to support smooth and successful deliveries.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying operational challenges, resolving issues, and implementing practical solutions to improve efficiency.
• Provide flexible leadership support by stepping in to cover Supervisor responsibilities during holidays and absences, helping maintain operational continuity and high team performance.

What You Will Have

• Logistics Expertise: Proven track record of success in a logistics, warehousing, transport, or supply chain environment as a team leader, supervisor, or similar role.
• Team-player mindset: A dynamic team player with a natural ability to energize and empower others to achieve shared goals.
• Clear Communicator: Strong communication skills to give clear direction, align the team, and execute tasks efficiently.
• Decisive Problem Solver: Capability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure to keep operations moving.
• Performance-Driven: Familiarity with operational KPIs to drive team performance and hit key targets.
• Tech-Savvy: Solid navigation skills in MS Office or Google Suite, with the adaptability to learn new operational systems quickly.
• Adaptable Responsibility: Flexible to step up and support Supervisor responsibilities during holidays and absences.
