Job summary

Optime Group are recruiting for a Warehouse Operative to join one of our well-respected clients at Swansea Train Station. The role involves packing and stocking catering items for GWR onboard services, in a chilled environment, with full training provided.

This temporary to permanent position offers a pay rate of £13.50 per hour, 40 hours per week, on a 5 day out of 7 shift pattern, with weekly pay and an ASAP start. Full training is provided and progression is performance-based.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse operations and packing is desirable.
• Comfortable working in a chilled environment.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Experience with stock replenishment and manual handling is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Pack pre-prepared food items to Great Western Railway (GWR) catering standards and client requirements.
• Work in a chilled environment to ensure safe storage and handling of food items.
• Restock GWR catering trolleys with food and drink, ensuring they are stocked for outbound trains.
• Wash and clean equipment, dishes, cutlery and catering trolleys returned from GWR trains.
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic work environment in line with food safety standards.
• Carry out stock checks and stocktaking to ensure catering supplies for GWR train services.

Optime Group are excited to be recruiting for Warehouse Operative to join one of our well-respected and successful clients at Swansea Train Station. This is a very enjoyable role with a great company providing fantastic working conditions and facilities.

What’s on offer:

• Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour.
• Shift Times: 5 days out of 7, working 40 hours per week.
• Hours: 8-hour shifts scheduled between 05:30 and 21:00.
• Weekly Pay (every Friday).
• Full training provided.
• Temp to Perm (performance-based)
• ASAP Start!

Please Note: If you are scheduled to work a weekend, you will receive a day off during the week to ensure you work 5 days out of 7.

Key Duties:

• Packaging pre-prepared food items in accordance with Great Western Railway (GWR) catering standards and client requirements.
• Working in a chilled environment to ensure food items are stored and handled safely.
• Restocking GWR catering trolleys with food and drink items, ensuring they are fully stocked and ready for transportation onto outgoing trains.
• Washing and cleaning equipment, dishes, cutlery and catering trolleys returned from GWR trains.
• Maintaining a consistently clean, safe and hygienic working environment in line with food safety standards.
• Carrying out stock checks and stocktaking accurately to ensure sufficient catering supplies are available for GWR train services.
• Safely operating manual handling equipment to move and transport catering goods and supplies.
• Ensuring all catering orders are packed accurately, efficiently and on time to support the smooth running of GWR onboard catering services.

Please Note: All food items are already prepared. This role focuses on packing, replenishing catering trolleys, stock management and cleaning rather than cooking or preparing meals.

Requirements:

• Previous warehouse, picking and packing experience desirable but not essential.
• Comfortable working in a chilled, fast-paced environment.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and health and safety.
• Experience with stock replenishment and manual handling advantageous.
• Good attention to detail, reliability and teamwork.
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual duties.
