Job summary

Adler and Allan Ltd seeks a Yard person to assist the Yard Manager in depot operations, ensuring kit and equipment are inspected, tested, calibrated and ready for use. You will work safely, maintain records, manage stock, and support visitors with site safety guidance.

Key duties include ensuring compliance with policies, assisting with risk assessments, and representing the company professionally. A valid plant operation certification and a proactive, team-oriented approach are essential.

Qualifications

Must-have plant operation certificates for forklift, telehandler, or excavator (below 5t).
Good numeracy and literacy levels across basic paperwork and records.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Computer literacy for site records and reporting when needed.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team and visitors.
Proven planning and organisational capabilities.
Good manual dexterity and fitness for physically demanding tasks.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid UK driving licence (clean).

To represent the company professionally at all times.
To keep the depot and yards clean, safe and ensure waste is managed responsibly.
To restrict access to unauthorised areas and equipment.

Job description

The Yard person will need to assist the Yard Manager in managing the organisations depots and ensure that kit and equipment is inspected, tested and calibrated and made ready to support the organisations operations.

What you will be doing

To work safely at all times and ensure the safety of all those working around them.
To comply with the requirements of the company policies, procedures and relevant risk assessments and method statements.
To support the SHEQ Manager with matters of compliance.
To ensure that all those visiting the site to undertake works sign into the visitors book and are made aware of any risks to their H&S and understand how to follow site-based rules and requirements.
To complete and maintain records of inspections and maintenance.
To support the Yard Manager.
To ensure suitable levels of stock and equipment are readily available at all times.
To prepare requests in a timely manner ready for collection.
To represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
To ensure that the depot, including all yards and parking areas are kept clean, safe and ensure that waste is minimised and stored/treated/disposed of responsibly.
To restrict access to unauthorised areas and/or equipment.

Qualifications

Plant operators’ certificates (forklift/telehandler/excavator below 5t).
