Job summary

IKEA Gateshead is recruiting a Warehouse Operative to support both the Gateshead store and its external warehouse. You will handle manual tasks, replenish stock, pick and pack customer orders, and maintain accurate stock records.

The role runs on night shifts (9:30pm–10:00am) with an hourly rate of £13.45 plus a £2.25 night shift uplift. Start date is 29 October 2026, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Age 18+ required.
• Ability to prioritise and organise workload with attention to detail.
• Experience using technical equipment to boost productivity and efficiency.

What we offer

• This role offers an hourly rate of £13.45.
• Nightshift allowance of £2.25 per hour applies for hours between 10pm and 6am.
• 24 hours or 12 hours covering both the IKEA Gateshead store (Metro Retail Park, Pinetree Way) and external warehouse (Follingsby Park, Gateshead)
• Working hours between 9:30pm - 10:00am.

What you'll need to have

• Due to our health & safety regulations you will need to be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to prioritise and organise your workload swiftly and with attention to detail.
• Experience in utilising technical equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• You are prepared to act on your own initiative and to participate in group efforts.

What you'll be doing day to day

• Effectively perform the role in the assigned area of responsibility, which includes, manual handling of heavy stock, receiving and replenishing goods with accuracy, picking and packing customer orders and keeping accurate records of stock levels.
• Working with or around heavy machinery, such as, Forklift trucks, counterbalance, pump trucks, to safely and efficiently transport heavy goods within the warehouse.
• Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed for a secure environment for both our customers and co-workers.
• You will be required to manually handle all of our products ranging from LACK Coffee Tables to PAX Wardrobes.
