Job summary

IKEA Gateshead is seeking Warehouse Assistants to join our Fulfilment team. You’ll pick and prepare orders for online and in-store collection, maintain stock accuracy, and ensure timely delivery to customers.

You’ll work across two sites, use handheld devices and our internal systems, and follow safety rules to keep a safe, efficient warehouse. The role offers a competitive hourly rate and flexible weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Pick and prepare large volumes of orders for online & in-store collection or delivery.

• Meet customers in-store during picking.

• Ensure stock availability using internal systems to maintain accurate stock.
• Maintain warehouse standards and prep stock for the next day.
• Follow IKEA health, safety and security rules.

Job description

IKEA Gateshead, are looking to welcome Warehouse Assistants to join our hardworking Fulfilment team. At IKEA, you'll put the customer experience at the heart of everything-keeping products available, preparing high-volume orders, maintaining a safe and organised warehouse, and ensuring every customer receives their items smoothly and efficiently.,

• You will be picking and preparing large volumes of orders for both online & in store collection or delivery with various cut off times to be adhered to, including handing them to the customer.
• Your daily duties will be receiving stock, picking, checking order accuracy, and preparing orders for delivery.
• You will also be required to meet the customer in the store during picking.
• You will work alongside our external delivery company for a smooth flow of customer orders and returns
• You will work with our internal systems to ensure that customers have accurate and full stock availability at all times.
• Ensure products are always available by accurately and promptly completing tasks in your assigned area of the warehouse.
• Maintain warehouse standards, condense cardboard, remove plastics and order stock for the next day
• Commit to all IKEA health, safety and security rules and requirements within your area and actively help colleagues to prevent any incidents involving co-workers, customers, equipment, building and IKEA products.
• Contribute to optimised daily fulfilment operations by working in a lean, simple, and cost-conscious way, applying, and sharing good examples.
• Manual handling using safety protocols and working with the use of pump trucks.
• You will be responsible for accurate return processes, ensuring all customer returns are dealt with quickly to ensure customers receive their refund in a timely manner.
  You are comfortable using computers and handheld devices to support with the checking of stock and to answer customer questions.
• You proactively look for tasks to be done and use your initiative to complete them in an efficient and effective manner.
• You are able to work independently and as part of a large team, seperated across two sites
• You have an adaptable mindset allowing you to switch between different tasks/areas and work within tight time frames.
• You work with guidance from your manager to achieve set goals in agreed timeframes using standard ways of working.
  Competitive hourly rate of £13.45 per hour.
• 24 hours per week working 5 days over 7 including 3/4 weekends. Working between the hours of 6:00am-9:00pm
• 16 hours per week working 5 days over 7 including 3/4 weekends. Working between the hours of 6:00am-9:00pm
• These roles are mainly based at our external warehouse at Follingsby Park - Washington. However, there may be a need for you to occasionally work in store so you must be able to commute to both Follingsby Park, and IKEA Gateshead store.
