Job summary

IKEA Gateshead is recruiting a Warehouse Operative to join our busy store. You will handle stock manually, receive and replenish goods, and pick/pack customer orders with precision, while operating forklift-related equipment when required.

You will follow safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment and contribute to accurate stock levels and efficient warehouse operations.

• Able to prioritise workload and stay organised in a busy warehouse.
• Experience using equipment to boost productivity and efficiency.

• Manually handle all products from LACK to PAX ranges.

Role responsibilities

• Effectively perform the role in the assigned area of responsibility, which includes, manual handling of heavy stock, receiving and replenishing goods with accuracy, picking and packing customer orders and keeping accurate records of stock levels.
• Working with or around heavy machinery, such as, Forklift trucks, counterbalance, pump trucks, to safely and efficiently transport heavy goods within the warehouse.
• Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed for a secure environment for both our customers and co-workers.
• You will be required to manually handle all of our products ranging from LACK Coffee Tables to PAX Wardrobes.

Employment details

• The Start Date of employment will be: 29th October 2026
• This role offers an hourly rate of £13.45.
• Nightshift allowance of £2.25 per hour applies for hours between 10pm and 6am.
• 24 hours or 12 hours covering both the IKEA Gateshead store (Metro Retail Park, Pinetree Way) and external warehouse (Follingsby Park, Gateshead)
• Working hours between 9:30pm - 10:00am.
