Job summary

IKEA Gateshead is hiring a Warehouse Operative to support store and external warehouse operations, with night shifts and a competitive hourly rate. You will handle heavy stock, pick and pack customer orders, and ensure accurate stock records, while adhering to safety rules in a busy environment.

Role covers both the IKEA Gateshead store area and an external warehouse, with shifts from 9:30pm to 10:00am and a night allowance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to prioritise and organise workload with attention to detail.
• Experience using technical equipment to enhance productivity.
• Willingness to act on your own initiative and to participate in group efforts.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in the assigned area of responsibility, including manual handling of heavy stock, receiving and replenishing goods, picking and packing orders, and keeping stock records.
• Operate heavy machinery around the warehouse to transport goods safely and efficiently.
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for customers and co-workers.
• Handle products ranging from LACK coffee tables to PAX wardrobes.

WHAT WE OFFER

• The Start Date of employment will be: 29th October 2026
• This role offers an hourly rate of £13.45.
• Nightshift allowance of £2.25 per hour applies for hours between 10pm and 6am.
• 24 hours or 12 hours covering both the IKEA Gateshead store (Metro Retail Park, Pinetree Way) and external warehouse (Follingsby Park, Gateshead)
• Working hours between 9:30pm – 10:00am.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE

• Due to our health & safety regulations you will need to be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to prioritise and organise your workload swiftly and with attention to detail.
• Experience in utilising technical equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• You are prepared to act on your own initiative and to participate in group efforts.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

• Effectively perform the role in the assigned area of responsibility, which includes, manual handling of heavy stock, receiving and replenishing goods with accuracy, picking and packing customer orders and keeping accurate records of stock levels.
• Working with or around heavy machinery, such as, Forklift trucks, counterbalance, pump trucks, to safely and efficiently transport heavy goods within the warehouse.
• Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed for a secure environment for both our customers and co-workers.
• You will be required to manually handle all of our products ranging from LACK Coffee Tables to PAX Wardrobes.
