Job summary

IKEA Gateshead is seeking a Warehouse Operative to join our busy logistics team. You will handle stock, pick and pack orders, and assist with receiving and replenishment in a lively warehouse environment.

You will work 9:30pm–10:00am with a nightly rate of £13.45 per hour and a night shift allowance of £2.25 per hour for eligible hours.

We value safety, reliability, initiative and teamwork; 18+ years old required, with opportunity to contribute to 24/7 store and external warehouse operations.

Qualifications

• Due to health & safety regulations you will need to be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to prioritise and organise your workload swiftly and with attention to detail.
• Experience in utilising technical equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• You are prepared to act on your own initiative and to participate in group efforts.

Responsibilities

• Effectively perform the role in the assigned area of responsibility, which includes, manual handling of heavy stock, receiving and replenishing goods with accuracy, picking and packing customer orders and keeping accurate records of stock levels.
• Working with or around heavy machinery, such as, Forklift trucks, counterbalance, pump trucks, to safely and efficiently transport heavy goods within the warehouse.
• Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed for a secure environment for both our customers and co-workers.
• You will be required to manually handle all of our products ranging from LACK Coffee Tables to PAX Wardrobes.

WHAT WE OFFER

• The Start Date of employment will be: 29th October 2026
• This role offers an hourly rate of £13.45.
• Nightshift allowance of £2.25 per hour applies for hours between 10pm and 6am.
• 24 hours or 12 hours covering both the IKEA Gateshead store (Metro Retail Park, Pinetree Way) and external warehouse (Follingsby Park, Gateshead)
• Working hours between 9:30pm – 10:00am.
