Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is hiring a part-time ward cleaner to join the hospital environment team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality environmental cleaning across ward areas in line with NHS standards.

You will maintain hygiene through cleaning of sanitary areas, replenish supplies, and assist with laundry and related duties as required. The position runs Monday to Friday 07:00–11:00 under a fixed-term contract until 31 October 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience in general ward cleaning or hospital environment preferred.
• Ability to follow NHS cleaning standards and infection prevention protocols.
• Reliable and able to follow detailed schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily environmental cleaning on wards, including toilets, bathrooms, showers and sluice rooms.
• Clean and maintain patient bays, side rooms, nurse stations and other designated areas per daily schedule.
• Replenish consumables (gel, soap, towels, toilet paper, aprons, gloves) to maintain hygiene standards.
• Empty, clean and relin e waste bins and dispose of waste according to regulations.
• Distribute mail, deliver/replenish gas cylinders, and assist with linen and laundry duties as required.
