Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Ward Clerk on Ward 19 to provide essential administrative support for the smooth running of the ward. The role involves handling patient information with confidentiality, coordinating outpatient appointments, and assisting nursing staff in a busy hospital setting.

The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00, with DBS and NHS compliance required.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 2 in a relevant subject or equivalent experience of working in an administrative role.
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent
  • Previous experience in an NHS acute hospital
  • Previous experience of the Cerner Millennium information system
  • ECDL

Responsibilities

  • Check demographic details on admission and discharge.
  • Arrange transport for patients to other hospitals/departments.
  • Answer the telephone and take messages or transfer calls.
  • Coordinate outpatient appointments with clinic clerk prior to discharge.
  • Prepare discharged patients paperwork for scanning.
  • Provide support to nursing staff for general patient requests.
  • Liaise with Informatics regarding electronic equipment.
  • Complete welcome calls and feedback calls.
  • Communicate with Transfer of care Hub and patient flow.
  • Support in completing family and friend feedbacks.
  • Support ward manager with administration tasks.
