Job summary

Ward Clerk - Cardiac and Stroke Receiving Unit, Band 2, based at Wycombe Hospital, High Wycombe. Contract permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with rotational Early/Late shifts (7:30–15:30 / 11:30–19:30).

The post is full-time with options for flexibility, supporting patient care through accurate record-keeping and administrative duties within the Cardiac and Stroke Receiving Unit.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience in hospital settings.
• Experience in an office setting.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Understanding of confidentiality.
• Knowledge of EPR Careflow/Medway2.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, visitors and healthcare professionals, providing a professional and confidential service.
• Provide administrative, clerical and reception support to the Cardiac and Stroke Receiving Unit.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including admissions, transfers and discharges, using Careflow EPR and other Trust systems.
• Answer and direct telephone calls and coordinate communication across departments.
• Support patient transfers, discharge planning and the timely processing of patient records.
• Manage correspondence, emails, post and departmental documentation.
• Update patient tracking boards, staffing boards and ward information systems.
• Assist with data collection, audits and reporting requirements.
• Maintain stocks of stationery and departmental supplies.
• Support relatives and visitors with non-clinical enquiries.
• Contribute to a safe, organised and welcoming ward environment.
• Work in accordance with Trust policies, information governance and confidentiality standards.
