Job summary

NCIC in Carlisle seeks a Deputy Ward Manager (Band 6) to lead the Stroke/Rehab unit. 37.5 hours per week, 12-hour day/night shifts, fixed-term 9 months. The post offers responsibilities to drive high standards of care with a multidisciplinary team.

Candidate will develop into leadership with support from the ward manager and matron, delivering patient‑centered care in a busy HASU environment with 10-bed hyperacute and 33 beds for rehab.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with active professional registration.
• Band 6 leadership experience or equivalent leadership role.
• Experience in stroke, rehab or acute care settings.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead nursing and midwifery services to deliver high standards of patient care.
• Support the ward manager and multidisciplinary team in daily operations.
• Ensure safe evidence-based patient care and efficient patient flow.
• Develop into leadership role with mentorship from the matron.
