North London Hospice is seeking an IPU Ward Clerk to support the Inpatient Unit. You will be the first point of contact for patients, families and visitors, providing reception duties and administering day-to-day operations.
The role involves maintaining patient records, updating electronic systems, handling phone and email enquiries, and assisting the wider team with administrative tasks. A calm, organised approach and strong communication are essential.
Please note this is a bank/casual worker position.
The normal base location for this role is 47 Woodside Avenue, Finchley. However, during the refurbishment of our Inpatient Unit, the temporary base location will be Jade Ward, Edgware Community Hospital, Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware, Middlesex, HA8 0AD. The refurbishment is anticipated to last approximately 10 to 16 months, after which the role will return to its normal base location at Finchley.
We are looking for an organised and compassionate IPU Ward Clerk to join our Inpatient Unit team. As the first point of contact for many patients, families and visitors, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the unit and ensuring a welcoming, professional and efficient service.
Key responsibilities include providing reception and administrative support, maintaining patient records, updating electronic systems, responding to telephone and email enquiries, managing stock processes, and supporting the wider Inpatient Unit team with administrative tasks. You will work closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues, helping to ensure patients, families and healthcare professionals receive excellent support and service at all times.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and communication skills who enjoys working in a busy healthcare environment. Experience within a healthcare setting is desirable, but most importantly we are looking for someone who shares our values, is adaptable, and is committed to supporting the delivery of outstanding palliative care.
