Job summary

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Ward Clerk to provide high-quality administrative support to the ward team, patients and visitors. You will act as first point of contact by phone and face-to-face, managing reception duties and data entry for admissions, transfers and discharges.

The role requires GCSEs in Maths and English, NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent, and familiarity with hospital systems such as ECAMIS, Opera, Opera Live, PACS.

Ward Clerk

  • To provide a high-quality efficient administration and clerical service to Unit staff, visitors and patients.
  • To provide a reception service, acting as first point of contact on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.
  • To facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or ward/departmental functioning.
  • To input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges.

Main duties of the job
  • to assist in the provision of high standard care by providing a high quality efficient administration and clerical service to unit staff, visitors and patients.
  • Acting as first point of contact on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals facilitating effective communication.
  • To manage data on admissions, transfers and discharges, through electronic systems, ensuring information governance and confidentiality is kept at all times.
  • To work in a collaborative and co-operative manner and to recognise and respect their particular contribution within the care team.

Qualifications & Training
  • GCSE's A-C (Maths & English) or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience
  • NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Knowledge of hospital computer systems: Ecamis, Opera, Opera live, PACS, Ice Web Medical Terminology
Experience
  • Previous experience of working in a clerical environment
  • Experience within the NHS
