Job description

Our Children's Home Symington are looking for a passionate and dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to join their team. Our home is set in a peaceful semi-rural location, creating a warm, homely and nurturing environment that can support up to 5 young people. We pride ourselves on our family style environment, where everyone is encouraged to feel safe, valued and that they truly belong. We support young people up to the age of 18, with continuing care up until the age of 21. Our young people have a range of individual needs, including complex trauma, ASD and ADHD. We have a spacious garden, which gives our young people the opportunity for outdoor learning, play, activities and simply being outside!

At our home in Symington, it's the little things that can make the biggest difference. Supporting our young people means that you are there through the ups, the downs, and all of the moments in between. It means listening, encouraging, having fun, offering reassurance and helping each young person feel safe, seen and supported. As part of our team, you will help young people with everyday life, build positive and trusting relationships, develop their independence and discover ways to help them understand and manage their emotions. You'll celebrate their achievements, support them through challenges, and most importantly, be someone they can rely on.

As part of our work, we are committed to help support the transformation of how Scotland cares. This is guided by the national initiative The Promise which ensure that children and young people grow up loved, safe and respected so that they realise their full potential. This principle sits at the heart of everything we do and shapes the way we support young people, families and communities across Scotland.

Due to the location of this role, a full UK driving license is essential.

At Aspris, we want every young person to feel understood, supported, and ready to take on the world. That’s why our homes are shaped around the needs of each child - this ensures that all of our young people get the support that’s shaped around their strengths, challenges, and goals.

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will be at the centre of the fun! Taking young people to see their friends, trips to the cinema, partaking in community events such as fundraisers and galas, teaching the young people to cook, encouraging them to be independent and many other brand new opportunities that they may never have had the chance to do previously. This role allows you to really make a difference to the lives of those under our care and to build strong relationships with the young people and staff alike.

At Aspris, learning never stops - and that’s something we truly value. As a growing organisation, we rely on accurate, detailed data, which can include sensitive information such as incident reports and disclosures from young people. High attention to detail is essential to the role.

To support you, we offer continuous CPD and development opportunities, helping you grow and become the best version of yourself.

What does this mean?

  • Automatic enrollment onto NVQ/SVQ qualifications within 6-months of starting a Residential Support role
  • The opportunity to be qualified to degree level
  • A clear pathway for you to progress in your role
