Job summary

Kent Autistic Trust in Kent is seeking a Waking Night Support Worker to help keep people safe, supported and comfortable through the night. You will carry out routine safety checks, assist with personal care, administer medications per care plans, and maintain clear records while working lone shifts with proper risk assessments.

Qualifications

  • Experience in care or support roles, with a focus on dignity and respect.
  • Ability to perform personal care and hygiene tasks with sensitivity.
  • Comfort with lone-working shifts and following risk assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine safety and welfare checks on individuals and their environment throughout the night
  • Ensure the service, building, and grounds remain safe and secure at all times
  • Complete household management tasks, including cleaning, light cooking, and general upkeep
  • Administer medication in line with individual care plans, organisational policies, and medication procedures
  • Support individuals with personal care and hygiene needs while maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect
  • Accurately complete and maintain written records, reports, and night handover documentation
  • Work independently during lone-working shifts, following agreed lone-working procedures and risk assessments
  • Support individuals who may experience distress or display behaviours of concern, using positive behaviour strategies and person-centred approaches
  • Provide care and support to individuals with additional or complex needs, including learning disabilities, epilepsy, pica, and other health or support needs
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of each individuals abilities, preferences, and support requirements
  • Promote independence, choice, and empowerment in line with person-centred care principles
  • Actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of support
  • Uphold the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of all individuals at all times
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and professionals across services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development, training, and reflective practice

At Newton Close, our Waking Night Support Workers play a vital role in ensuring the people we support feel safe, secure and supported throughout the night.
