Job summary

Deafblind UK are recruiting a Waking Night Support Worker for Rainbow Court, Peterborough, to support around 20 individuals to live independently. You will deliver person-centred care overnight, assist with personal care, night routines, and safety.

Shifts are 22:00–08:00 on a 4 on/4 off pattern, with a full UK driving licence and PEG training required. We offer 28 days leave, health plan, GP access, and ongoing training.

  • Understanding safeguarding and risk management.
  • Ability to complete records and use IT.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support during the night.
  • Support night-time routines and ensure comfort.

Waking Night Support Worker – Deafblind UK
Peterborough (Rainbow Court) | £13.53 Per Hour

We are currently recruiting for a Support Worker to join our service at Rainbow Court, Peterborough, supporting approximately 20 individuals with a range of needs to live independently and confidently within their community.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is compassionate, proactive, and able to use their initiative, with a passion for delivering high-quality, person centred care.

  • 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern
  • Shifts vary but operate on a 4 on 4 off basis and between the hours of 22:00 – 08:00. Your availability to work flexibly across these times is essential.
The Role

As a waking night Support Worker, you will deliver person centred support to individuals, helping them maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life.

  • Providing personal care and support during the night, including washing, toileting, dressing, and maintaining personal hygiene
  • Supporting individuals with their night time routines and ensuring they are comfortable and settled
  • Providing regular monitoring and responding promptly to individuals who wake or require support throughout the night
  • Offering reassurance, emotional support, and companionship to individuals who may feel unsettled or anxious during the night
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment, including completing appropriate household tasks during quieter periods
  • Supporting individuals to maintain their independence, dignity, choice, and privacy at all times
  • Responding appropriately to changes in an individual's needs or behaviour and escalating concerns where necessary
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues, families, and other professionals, including providing clear handovers to the daytime team
  • Following care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, medication protocols, and organisational policies
  • Maintaining accurate records of night time support, observations, incidents, and any changes in an individual's wellbeing
We Are Looking For Candidates Who Are:
  • PEG trained (our client is fed via PEG thus this is essential)
  • Compassionate, patient, and person centred in their approach
  • Able to take responsibility and use initiative in day to day situations
  • Strong team players with good communication skills
  • Confident in sharing important information and keeping accurate records
  • Able to think independently and use sound judgement
  • Proactive, reliable, and professional
  • Comfortable working flexibly to meet the needs of the service
Skills & Experience
  • Prior experience in a health and social care setting
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or complex needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding and risk management
  • Good IT skills and ability to complete records
Qualifications (or willingness to work towards):
  • Level 2 BSL Qualified
  • CPI/MAPA trained
  • PEG trained
Additional Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (business insurance required)
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
