Job summary

Waythrough is seeking a Waking Night Crisis Recovery Worker for Sycamore House in Blackpool. Youll provide night-time support in a safe, calm environment and help individuals through mental health crises while promoting recovery and independence.

Youll work a rota of night shifts, build therapeutic relationships, maintain confidential records, and follow safeguarding procedures, with full training provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience or training in mental health support is desirable but not essential.
  • Able to communicate with compassion and respect in sensitive situations.
  • Willingness to work night shifts and on-rota patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate night-time support to people in mental health crisis.
  • Help individuals work towards recovery goals and independence.
  • Maintain a safe, calm environment and respond to changes in risk.
  • Keep accurate, confidential case notes and handovers.

Location: Willow House - Chapel Lane, Coppull, PR7 4PN

Working Hours: 37 hours per week - shift patterns 8pm-6pm, 10:30pm-8:30am, 9:45pm-8:15am worked on a rota basis

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £25,877.80 - £30,868.31 per annum

About the Service

Sycamore House is a mental health crisis recovery service in Blackpool, providing a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

The service provides 24-hour support, seven days a week, helping individuals through periods of crisis while supporting their recovery, independence and emotional wellbeing.

As a Waking night crisis recovery worker, you'll provide support throughout the night, helping to maintain a calm and safe environment while responding compassionately to the individual needs of the people using the service.

What You'll Do
  • Provide compassionate and person-centred support to people experiencing mental health challenges and crisis.
  • Support individuals to maintain their independence and work towards their personal recovery goals.
  • Provide practical and emotional support throughout the night, responding appropriately when individuals need additional support.
  • Help maintain a safe, calm and supportive environment within Sycamore House.
  • Monitor wellbeing and respond appropriately to changes in risk or individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case notes, records and handovers.
  • Follow safeguarding, risk management and service procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to ensure individuals receive consistent and effective support.
To Succeed in This Role, You'll Need
  • Strong communication and listening skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • A compassionate, caring and non-judgemental approach.
  • The ability to respond calmly and appropriately to sensitive or challenging situations.
  • The confidence to work independently while being part of a wider team.
  • Good organisation and record-keeping skills.
  • Flexibility and a commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred support.
  • Experience of supporting people with mental health challenges or other complex needs would be beneficial, but previous relevant experience is not essential, as training and support will be provided.
  • An understanding of mental health, including knowledge gained through lived experience, would also be welcomed.
