Job summary

SMT GB in Duxford is seeking a Workshop Engineer to diagnose, service and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and related machinery in our modern workshop. You will work safely and to high standards, delivering quality workmanship and customer service.

The role requires a formal engineering qualification, hands-on repair experience with heavy plant, and strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance or related field.
• Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions and electronics.
• Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication and ability to work with customers and colleagues.
• Basic IT skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and other machinery.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Record time, job information and documentation accurately.
• Order and manage parts required to complete repairs.
• Ensure software updates are installed and up to date.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
• Attend product and technical training to develop competence.
• Work in line with SMT GB health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
