Volunteers have been central to our work for many years and are vital to achieving our goals. If you are interested in horticulture, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and want to give your time to The Donkey Sanctuary, we are seeking volunteers to support our Retail and Gardening Teams at our main site in Sidmouth, East Devon, a designated area of natural beauty.

You will be able to help us with...

• Deadheading and tidying of retail plants.
• Watering and feeding of tubs and plants for sale.
• Removal of weeds from retail plants.
• Tidying and maintaining the plant retail area.
• Maintaining correct pricing labels on retail plants.
• Interacting with visitors seeking information about the plants and gardens.
• Assisting in the gift shop, serving customers, stocking, selling adoptions, etc.

After a 1-day induction, you will become an ambassador for The Donkey Sanctuary, enhancing visitors’ experiences and making supporters feel valued. Training on manual handling, till operation, GDPR, card payments, and customer service will be provided.
