Job summary

Victim Support in Wales is seeking a Victim Care Officer to join the team in Cardiff on a hybrid pattern, working 3 days at the office and 2 days from home. You will provide telephone-based support to victims and witnesses of crime, helping them recover from the impacts of crime.

Role involves assessing risk and wellbeing, signposting to relevant services, and contributing to a supportive team in a charity focused on empowering those affected by crime.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role would be helpful but is not essential; robust training provided.
• You will offer emotional and practical support, assess risk and well-being, and signpost to relevant support.

About the role

This role is based in Cardiff though we are operating a hybrid working model which involves 3-days working from our office base and 2-days working from home.

As a Victim Care Officer you will be working as part of a small team providing telephone-based support to the victims and witnesses of crime ensuring we achieve our aim of helping people recover from the impacts of crime.

South Wales Victim Focus serves diverse communities, many of whom experience a range of barriers that may impact on their ability to cope and recover from what they have experienced, as a Victim Care Officer you will offer emotional and practical support, assess risk and well-being, and signpost to relevant support to help enable the victim of crime to take control of their situation.

As a Triage & Early Intervention Officer, you will be:

• talking to people on the telephone from a variety of different backgrounds, all with different experiences. No two days are the same & you will need to use your communication skills and resilient nature to help those dealing with trauma and the effects of crime, who may have gone through a life-changing experience.
• working within a small supportive team that is part of a large independent charity which offers the opportunity to develop skills to enhance your ongoing personal development.

Previous experience in a similar role would be helpful but is not essential as you will receive robust training prior to working directly with clients. You will also receive ongoing support to ensure that you can provide victims with quick responses to meet their needs and help them cope and recover.
