Job summary

Victim Support in Cardiff operates a hybrid working model, combining regular home-based work with flexible base locations. The role focuses on providing ongoing support to victims of crime, helping people cope and recover, and delivering person-centered casework.

You will manage a caseload in the Cardiff & Vale area, liaising with local and national teams to ensure appropriate outcomes and KPI achievement. Travel to client sites is required as part of the role.

Job description

This role covers the Cardiff & Vale area, though we are operating a hybrid working model which involves regular home-based working and other flexible base working.

The purpose of this role is to provide on-going support to the victims of crime, ensuring that South Wales Victim Focus realises their aim of helping people cope and recover from the effects of being subjected to, or witnessing criminal activity.

South Wales Victim Focus serves diverse communities, many of whom experience a range of barriers that may impact on their ability to cope and recover from what they have experienced. These can include financial distress; social isolation; reduced mobility; mental and physical health issues; substance use and lack of opportunity. South Wales Victim Focus aims to identify what matters to service users and empower them to take control of their journey.

This role involves regular travel in and around the Cardiff & Vale area.

About the role:

As a Multi Crime Caseworker you will:

  • Be the first point of contact for clients from the area, or contract to which you have been allocated
  • Carry a caseload of clients within each allocated area as directed
  • Maintain case management records, developing personal support plans, and referring clients on, as required
  • Work with colleagues in local teams, and as part of a national team, to ensure that all outcomes and KPI measures are met
You will need:
  • Strong personal resilience, self-motivation and flexibility to work virtually with different teams, as deployed to do so
  • An understanding of the impact of crime on victims
  • Experience of working with clients to achieve outcomes, based on needs and risk assessments
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirement for confidentiality and safe working practices
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work from home effectively, both on your own and as part of a team
