Job summary

HSBC is seeking a Vice President, Credit Risk Management within the Institutional Client Group in London to lead risk assessment for Hedge Funds and related institutional portfolios.

You will partner with Sales, Trading and Relationship Management to structure credit solutions, govern risk processes, and ensure compliance with global standards.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of Hedge Funds structures and Institutional investment firms.
  • Strong Credit Risk expertise in Global Banking and Markets contexts.
  • Quantitative analysis and financial modelling with complex data.
  • High commercial awareness and ability to present digestible reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor credit risks across Hedge Funds and alternative funds.
  • Recommend credit limits, structures and risk mitigants within authorities.
  • Support Sales, Trading and Relationship Management teams to deliver profitable credit business.
  • Provide guidance on fund, geographic, sector and counterparty risks, including onboarding.
  • Collaborate with WMR, Legal, Collateral Management and other stakeholders on credit/doco matters.
  • Maintain accurate risk data, databases and approvals in line with HSBC standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve credit processes and turnaround times.
  • Support audit, regulatory and operational risk requirements, including ad-hoc projects.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Vice President, Credit Risk Management - Institutional Client Group (ICG)

In this role you’ll:

  • Manage and monitor credit risks across a portfolio of traditional Hedge Funds and alternative funds
  • Recommend appropriate credit limits, structures and risk mitigants within delegated authorities
  • Support Sales, Trading and Relationship Management teams in delivering profitable, sustainable and well-controlled credit business
  • Provide expert guidance on fund, geographic, sector and counterparty risks, including during client onboarding
  • Work closely with WMR, Legal, Collateral Management and other internal stakeholders to resolve credit and documentation matters
  • Maintain accurate risk information, databases and approvals, ensuring compliance with HSBC policies and control standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve credit processes, approval turnaround times and business flows
  • Support audit, regulatory and operational risk requirements, including ad-hoc funds-related projects

To be successful in this role you’ll meet the following requirements:

  • Able to evidence in-depth knowledge about the structures and operations of Hedge Funds and Institutional investment firms
  • Demonstrate the relevant level of knowledge of Credit Risk and how it is applied in a Global Banking and Markets setting
  • Have strong qualitative and quantitative analysis and financial modelling capabilities, and used to working with complex financial data
  • High level of commercial awareness to be able to work with various sources of information to produce easily digestible reports and presentations
  • Possess very good stakeholder management skills, coupled with a professional confidence that engender the view of a ‘Trusted Partner’ across a varied internal and external audience
  • Demonstrate really good time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to managing multiple tasks often with conflicting priorities
  • Have a firm understanding of the Risk and Control and Regulatory governance of Global Markets
