Job summary

CVS Vets in South Wales is seeking a Veterinary Receptionist / Vet Technician to join our team at Duffryn Bach Farm, Pendoylan, Cowbridge. This permanent role offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a weekend rota (no OOH).

You will greet clients, manage calls, process insurance and payments, and support veterinary staff in day-to-day care. We value empathy, excellent customer service, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Receptionist or in a demanding, client-focused role is a must; experience in a veterinary setting is a bonus.
  • Experience in equine welfare, including feeding, cleaning, and handling – this is essential!
  • Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism
  • Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
  • Outstanding customer service skills and experience with the public
  • Positive attitude and superior teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems

Responsibilities

  • Emotional Support: Provide empathy and understanding to clients during distressing times, while maintaining professionalism
  • System Utilisation: Organise patients using the in-house system efficiently
  • Inter-practice Communication: Liaise with veterinary practices to address patient needs and queries
  • Debt and Refund Management: Make necessary phone calls regarding debts, belongings, and refunds
  • Client Care: Above all, ensure that every client feels welcomed and valued at our practice

Contract: Permanent

About The Role

As part of the Vet Tech role, your responsibilities will also include:

  • Providing nursing care to our patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses with animal restraint
  • Walking, feeding, and cleaning patients
  • Preparing emergency and operating facilitiesli>
  • Performing general cleaning and maintenance
  • Running internal lab samples
