Job summary

Vets for Pets is seeking a friendly, compassionate Veterinary Receptionist for a part-time maternity cover role. You will be the first point of contact for clients, ensuring a warm, welcoming experience for both clients and their pets.

As part of the front-of-house team, you will handle appointments, calls, and admin tasks while supporting the veterinary team with day-to-day duties and excellent customer service in a busy practice.

Part-Time Veterinary Receptionist (Maternity Cover)

We're looking for a friendly, compassionate, and professional Veterinary Receptionist to join our wonderful front-of-house team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with both people and pets and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service. As the first point of contact for our clients, you'll play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our busy veterinary practice.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Greeting clients and their pets with a friendly and professional approach
• Managing appointments and diary scheduling
• Handling telephone and email enquiries
• Processing payments and maintaining accurate client records
• Supporting the veterinary team with administrative tasks
• Providing reassurance and empathy to pet owners during both routine and challenging visits

What We Are Looking For

• We're seeking someone who:
• Has excellent customer service and communication skills

• Has good administration and computer skills
• Shares our passion for delivering outstanding care to both clients and their pets

Previous reception or customer service experience is desirable, although full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Position Details

• Hours: from 17 hours per week
• Contract: Fixed-term maternity cover
• Saturday mornings: 9:00am-12:30pm on a rota basis (currently 1 in 5)
