Job summary

Inspiring Vet Care is seeking a friendly receptionist for Acorn Vets on a full‑time or part‑time permanent basis. The role involves welcoming clients, managing appointments, and supporting both sites with a collaborative team.

The Hove practice is on Portland Road, with a branch in Hangleton, and a diverse team of veterinary staff. This is a role offering flexibility, development, and a welcoming workplace in a seaside city with excellent transport links.

We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at Acorn Vets on a full-time or part‑time permanent basis.

Acorn Veterinary Surgery is a thriving two-site practice with state‑of‑the‑art equipment including an in‑house laboratory, digital x‑ray, ultrasound, digital dental x‑ray, and a dedicated operating theatre. Our main site is situated on Portland Road in Hove, with a branch practice in Hangleton. You'll join a passionate team of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 3 receptionist's working across both sites.

Both locations offer an excellent quality of life. The Hove practice is just a five‑minute walk from the seafront and only ten minutes by car from the South Downs. With vibrant Brighton on the doorstep and excellent transport links to London, it's a fantastic place to live and work.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, playing a key role in delivering a welcoming, professional and compassionate experience at every interaction.

You’ll support the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting client communications and working closely with clinical and non‑clinical colleagues to ensure a positive client and patient journey.

Working Pattern
  • Working 30 - 40 hours over 4 days a week; hours and shift patterns can be flexible. You will be required to work 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 8.30am to 12.30pm.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide an excellent experience to all patients and customers.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for patients and visitors.
  • Answer the telephone in a professional manner.
  • Greet visitors in a friendly manner.
  • Booking, cancelling and changing appointments, and follow up treatment as needed.
  • Answer general administrative questions or direct them to the appropriate party.
  • Deal with some admin responsibility.
  • Quickly resolve issues related to phone, emails or paperwork.
  • Processing and recording payments.
  • Dispensing medications/prescriptions.
  • Keeping client/patient records up to date.
