Job summary

Vets Now in Belfast is seeking a dedicated veterinary nurse to join our emergency team. You will work across triage, surgery, anaesthesia, and in-patient care within a fast-paced, client-focused clinic.

Key requirements include RCVS registration and a passion for high standards; ECC experience is a bonus. We offer progressive CPD, private medical insurance, generous leave, and a supportive, flexible rota.

Qualifications

  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months.
  • Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.

Responsibilities

  • First Aid – advise over the phone and in clinic.
  • Critical Care – monitor major body systems and in-patient trends.
  • Diagnostics – perform basic procedures in sole charge capacity.

Vets Now is the UK’s leading provider of emergency pet care, serving over 1700 veterinary practices through 60 plus dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. Our Belfast clinic is RCVS accredited as a Small Animal Emergency Service Clinic which reflects the clinics ability to handle emergency and critical care cases without an appointment and means clients can be reassured their pet is receiving the best care when they need it most.

Our nursing team are at the core of clinical treatment including triage, surgery, anaesthesia, and in-patient care. Key responsibilities will include:

  • First Aid – give appropriate advice over the phone and perform in clinic.
  • Critical Care – management and monitoring of major body systems, monitoring of in-patient trends and identifying changes quickly, physiotherapy, pain assessment, wound and dressing care.
  • Diagnostics – confident to perform basic diagnostic procedures in a sole charge capacity.

Key requirements

  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months.
  • Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.
  • Passionate about caring for our clients and their pets.
  • Experience with an ECC caseload is advantageous.

Working pattern

This role involves a mixture of weekday evenings, weekend day shifts, weekend night shifts and a fair share of Bank Holidays. The rota is currently flexible and can be discussed further at interview.
