Job summary

Royal Mail in Sheffield is looking for a Level 2 Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to join our commercial workshop on a permanent contract. You’ll service and repair a mixed fleet of LCVs and HGVs, with opportunities for overtime and a salary around £36k–£40k. Expect a rotating 39.5‑hour week and Saturdays on a 1 in 3 pattern.

Qualifications

• IMI Level 2 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair (or equivalent).
• Own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Proven Vehicle Technician experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCVs/HGVs).
• Full manual UK driving licence; HGV licence advantageous.
• Flexible to service demands.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet of LCVs, HGVs, trailers and other mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose vehicle faults and complete mechanical repairs to the required standard.
• Carry out routine commercial vehicle maintenance and servicing, using your own personal toolkit.
• Work with a range of traditional fuel and electric vehicles across different makes and models.
• Have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment within our modern, fully equipped Sheffield workshop.

Job description

Looking for your next Vehicle Technician or Mechanic role in Sheffield? Join our commercial vehicle workshop and work on one of the UK's largest fleets, with LCVs, HGVs and electric vehicles.

We're recruiting a Level 2 qualified Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our Sheffield Workshop on a Permanent contract. You'll work on a varied fleet of LCVs and HGVs, carrying out vehicle maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repairs, with the potential to earn up to £40,000 including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) Rotating shift pattern; Week 1 & 2: 13:30 - 22:00 Monday to Friday; Week 3 13:30 - 22:00 Monday to Thursday & Saturday 06:00 - 14:00.

You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off)

As a Vehicle Technician, you'll:

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic/ Vehicle Technician: you're fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 2 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or equivalent). You've got your own toolkit for standard repairs.


• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV


• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, HGV licence would be advantageous.


• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.


• Flexible to service demands: you're able to work on a flexible shift rota. You're always willing to support your team where necessary.
