Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Level 3 qualified HGV Vehicle Technician at our Leeds Workshop. You will maintain a varied fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles, carrying out inspections, diagnostics, servicing and repairs with access to modern tooling.

You’ll require an IMI Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, own toolkit, and a full UK driving licence. The role includes shift-based hours, overtime opportunities, and a pension/benefits package.

• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles (HGVs, trailers).
• Own toolkit for standard repairs and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers across a range of models.
• Perform routine maintenance using your own toolkit and shared workshop equipment.
• Work in a modern, fully equipped workshop and maintain high safety and quality standards.

Are you a qualified HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Vehicle Technician looking for your next opportunity in Leeds? Join Royal Mail, the UK's largest fleet operator, and work in a modern commercial vehicle workshop maintaining a varied fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles.

We're recruiting a Level 3 qualified HGV Vehicle Technician at our Leeds Workshop, with the potential to earn £75,000+ including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time - Average of 39.5 hours per week over the 6 week shift pattern including a 30 minute unpaid meal break rotating shift pattern;

Week 1 – 06:00 – 15:00 Wednesday to Sunday
Week 2 – 06:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday
Week 3 – 13:00 – 22:00 Monday to Friday
Week 4 – 06:00 – 15:00 Monday to Wednesday and 06:00 until 15:00 Saturday and Sunday
Week 5 – 06:00 – 15:00 Monday to Thursday and 06:00 until 10:00 Friday
Week 6 – 21:30 – 06:00 Monday to Thursday

Whilst there is some flexibility in relation to non-working days, these must be agreed with the workshop manager at the point of appointment and will be subject to operational requirements.

You’ll carry out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repairs across a range of HGVs, trailers and associated mechanical equipment.

You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair heavy goods vehicles.

You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

What you’ll need as an HGV Vehicle Technician

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Vehicle Technician, with experience maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
