Job summary

Halfords in Chelmsford is hiring a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic. You will service and repair vehicles, and progress to more complex tasks including clutches, timing belts, and diagnostics across electrics, brakes, steering and suspension.

Candidates should hold Level 3 LV Maintenance and Repair (or experience) and a full driving licence with ≤9 points. A strong diagnostic ability and willingness to develop ATA/MOT qualifications are valued.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience.
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience carrying out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair/replacement work (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical).

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and repair/replacement work.
• Perform more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics.
• Diagnose and fix issues in electrics, brakes, steering, suspension, and engine systems.
