Job summary

Halfords Group in Newport is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to service, repair and replace components, with the ability to handle complex tasks such as clutches, timing belts, and diagnostics across electrics, brakes, steering and suspension.

The role requires a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time‑served experience, plus a full UK driving licence (≤9 points). Benefits and progression opportunities are available within Halfords Autocentres.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Must have a full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical).

Responsibilities

• As a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, you will be skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work.
• You’ll carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.
