Job summary

Octane Recruitment seeks an experienced Vehicle Technician in Nelson with 4+ years in a main dealer or independent background. You must hold a full UK driving license; MOT license is a bonus. Salary up to £45,800 plus £3,000 sign‑on and additional bonuses, with overtime and DOE.

Typical hours are Mon–Fri, 40 hours plus Saturday mornings on a rota, in a supportive team environment that values training and progression.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license is required.
• NVQ/IMI/Mechanical Engineering/City & Guilds Level 3 preferred; level 2 considered with substantial dealership experience.
• MOT license is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and maintenance of all vehicles.
• Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair, including warranty‑related work.
• MOT testing duties (if qualified) and regulatory compliance.

Days– Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, Saturday mornings on a rota

Vehicle Technician Role:

• Carry out servicing and maintenance of all vehicles
• Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair, this work may include warranty approved work in line with our brand parameters
• Department of Transport (MOT) testing duties (if qualified)

Vehicle Technician Requirements:

• Full UK driving license
• NVQ, IMI, Mechanical Engineering, City & Guilds level 3 ideally but we will also consider level 2 with a lot of experience (If you’re a level 2 Vehicle Technician with main dealership experience then definitely apply!)
• MOT license is beneficial but not essential
