Job summary

Halfords Group plc in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to join our Halfords Garage Services team. You will service and repair vehicles, carry out diagnostics, and perform tasks such as clutch or timing belt replacements in a high-standard Fusion centre environment.

The role offers a base salary of £34,000–£38,100 with an uncapped monthly bonus averaging around £6,900 per year, aiming for total earnings up to £40,900.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Must have a full UK driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work and more complex repairs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and repair/replacement work on vehicles.
• Perform diagnostics across vehicle systems (brakes, steering, suspension, engine).
• Handle complex repairs such as clutches, timing belts, electrics and engine components.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience


• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points


• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
