Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Peterborough is recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic for the Peterborough Workshop on a permanent contract, with potential to earn up to £65k including overtime. You will join a large, green fleet operator and work 39.5 hours per week across a rotating shift pattern.

The role involves inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of vehicles and trailers, with access to specialist tooling in a modern workshop and a provided toolkit.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualified mechanic with own toolkit.
• Proven vehicle technician experience on a wide range including LCV/HGV.
• Full UK manual driving licence (HGV preferred).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair a range of vehicles, trailers and equipment.
• Use your personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Peterborough Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £65k including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:24, week 2: 13:36 - 22:00).

You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (06:00 - 14:24). In return, you will receive a weekday day off and £53.66 shift supplement.

A bit about the role

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
