Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited has partnered with one of the UK's leading dealer groups to recruit a Diagnostic Technician based in Bedford. The role requires a Level 3 qualification and a strong diagnostic capability, with opportunities for overtime and bonuses.

You will carry out complex diagnostics, EV work where qualified, and support a high‑performing workshop team in a safety‑driven, customer‑focused environment. Excellent pay and benefits are on offer.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Recognised Diagnostic qualification with strong diagnostic capability.
• Previous experience as Diagnostic Technician or Mechanic; brand-qualified acceptable.
• Strong teamwork, a process-driven approach, and commitment to safety, quality and customer care.

Responsibilities

• Carry out complex diagnostic, warranty, and repair work in line with manufacturer standards.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify, investigate, and resolve faults.
• Complete EV work, where qualified, and carry out hydraulic repairs safely and efficiently.
• Support accurate digital write-ups, job card completion, and recording of findings and parts requirements.
• Assist Apprentice Technicians with development, supporting a high-performing workshop team.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality, first-time fix and customer satisfaction.

Diagnostic Technician / Vehicle Technician / Mechanic role with a Level 3 qualification,for one of the UK's leading dealer groups. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location:Bedford
Pay / salary:Up to£44,958basic per annum, OTE up to£50,958per annum, based on time saved, team profit and CSI bonus
Job type:Permanent / full-time role
Shift and schedule:45 hours per week, including weekends on a rota basis

Skills and experience

• Minimum Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Recognised Diagnostic qualification, with strong diagnostic capability and confidence using diagnostic tools and software.
• Previous experience as a Diagnostic Technician or Mechanic is ideal, although brand-qualified Technicians will also be considered.

Job responsibilities for the Diagnostic Technician role
