Job summary

Mpeople Recruitment North West are excited to recruit a Hire Desk Controller / Fleet Coordinator to join their Rochdale-based team. This role centers on coordinating vehicle hire operations and delivering excellent customer service.

You will manage bookings, plan driver routes, and liaise with depots and customers, with a salary of £28,000–£30,000 plus overtime. Weekend rota applies (1 in 2 or 1 in 3, 9am-12pm, paid overtime).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and allocate hire vehicles in line with customer requirements and location.
• Manage daily hire desk activities, including bookings, scheduling, and administration.
• Plan and coordinate driver routes and vehicle deliveries/collections.
• Process rental agreements, damage reports, and vehicle documentation.
• Liaise with customers, depots, drivers and internal departments.
• Arrange vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repairs to maximise fleet availability.
• Maintain accurate records and update internal systems.
• Support general fleet operations and transport coordination.
• Deliver high levels of customer service at all times.

Hire Desk Controller / Fleet Coordinator (Vehicle Rental)

Location: Rochdale (OL16)

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 + Overtime

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm + Saturday rota (1 in 2 or 1 in 3, 9am-12pm, paid overtime)

Mpeople Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Hire Desk Controller / Fleet Coordinator to join a well-established and growing organisation based in Rochdale. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in vehicle hire, car rental, fleet coordination, or transport planning.

This role is ideal for candidates currently working as a Rental Sales Agent, Customer Service Representative, Fleet Administrator, Hire Controller, or Transport Coordinator within the vehicle rental or hire industry. Only candidates with this type of experience will be considered for this role.

Our client is a reputable business within the accident management and vehicle hire sector, providing replacement vehicles to customers nationwide following non-fault road traffic accidents.

The Role:

Working closely with the Transport Manager and Hire Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating vehicle hire operations, ensuring efficient allocation of fleet and delivery of vehicles to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and allocate hire vehicles in line with customer requirements and location
• Manage daily hire desk activities, including bookings, scheduling, and administration
• Plan and coordinate driver routes and vehicle deliveries/collections
• Process rental agreements, damage reports, and vehicle documentation
• Liaise with customers, depots, drivers, and internal departments
• Arrange vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repairs to maximise fleet availability
• Maintain accurate records and update internal systems
• Support general fleet operations and transport coordination
• Deliver a high level of customer service at all times

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience working within vehicle hire, car rental, fleet, or transport coordination
• Previous experience as a Hire Controller, Fleet Coordinator, Transport Coordinator, or similar role
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Candidates with experience from car rental businesses such as Enterprise, Avis, Europcar, or similar hire environments are highly encouraged to apply. Applicants from plant hire, tool hire, or logistics coordination backgrounds will also be considered.
