Job summary

Shelbourne Motors invites applications for a Vehicle/Master Vehicle Technician to join our Renault Service Team at Portadown or Newry. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing a wide range of mechanical and electrical faults in a multi-franchise environment, with training offered to progress toward Master Technician status.

You will work both independently and as part of a team, using modern diagnostic tools, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and ensuring first-time fixes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance with diagnostics experience.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication with customers and manufacturers.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective parts and verify fixes.
  • Train team members in diagnostic and repair methods.
  • Communicate faults and repairs with manufacturers and customers.
  • Record test results and comply with manufacturer requirements.
  • Assist in workshop planning and pre-diagnosis of faults.
  • Road test vehicles to verify repairs.

The role

As a Shelbourne Motors Master Technician, you will be responsible for accurately diagnosing and repairing a wide range of mechanical and electrical faults on customers’ cars. You must ensure a fantastic standard of work and aim for a first-time fix, every time. This is a great opportunity for a Master Technician who is looking to keep up to date with modern vehicle technologies and develop skills in a multi-franchise environment. Applications from experienced technicians with ambition to develop to Master Technician level are welcome with training available for the right candidate.

Day-to-day duties
  • Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components and diagnosing issues accurately, using computer-based diagnostic equipment.
  • Repairing or replacing broken or defective parts and confirming that defects have been resolved.
  • Training other members of the team in various diagnostic and repair methods.
  • Liaising with the vehicle manufacturer and customers to accurately communicate faults and repairs needed.
  • Recording test results and findings and maintaining records to manufacturer requirements.
  • Assisting in workshop planning and the pre-diagnosis of vehicle faults, including the speculative ordering of parts, to ensure a first-time fix.
  • Road testing vehicles to check repairs.
Essential Skills
  • A minimum of Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid, proven work experience with one of the leading vehicle manufacturers, achieving Diagnostic level.
  • Ability to work in a competent and efficient manner both as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to follow checklists and ensure that all procedures are completed.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and listening skills.
  • A high level of organisation.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with manufacturers and customers.
  • An understanding of great customer service.
  • A full UK driving licence.

We may consider experienced vehicle technicians who want to develop themselves to the diagnostic/master level by attending dealership training.
