Job summary

Pertemps North West and North Wales is seeking an experienced Vehicle Maintenance Technician for the Middlesborough depot. The role focuses on planned and defect maintenance for mechanical and cryogenic systems, ensuring high vehicle availability and adherence to safety procedures.

You will liaise with external contractors, handle switching of tankers/trailers, and work a rotating shift including weekends. A strong team player with relevant qualifications is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be time served HGV Technician.
• Must hold a valid Class 1 licence with CPC certification (for 3–5 years).
• Experience with DAF tankers/trailers is beneficial.
• Computer literate.
• High level of safety awareness.
• Flexible to work a rotating shift pattern, including weekends.
• Excellent team player.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Planned & Defect Maintenance on mechanical and cryogenic systems.
• Liaise with external maintenance contractors (e.g., DAF).
• Minimise vehicle downtime and respond to peak demand for vehicle availability.
• Follow all safety procedures and contribute to safety agendas.
• Coupling and uncoupling of motive units/towing vehicles from tankers/trailers.

Job Title: Vehicle Maintenance Technician

Location: Middlesborough (TS6 7RT)

Salary: £45,635 + Allowances + Bonus

Shifts: Rotating Shift Pattern between 6am-9pm (including some weekends)

Contract: Permanent

As the Vehicle Maintenance Technician your duties will be;

• Undertake Planned & Defect Maintenance activities for both Mechanical and Cryogenic Systems.
• Liaise as and when required with external maintenance contractors and other bodies e.g. DAF.
• Minimise vehicle downtime and react to peak demands for vehicle availability.
• Consistently ensure all safety procedures are followed, playing a key role in safety agendas.
• Coupling and uncoupling of motive units/towing vehicles from tankers/trailers.

The successful Vehicle Maintenance Technician will have the following skills;

• Must be time served HGV Technician.
• Must have a solid work history within a similar role, working on hazardous vehicles and tankers would be advantageous.
• Must hold a valid Class 1 licence with CPC certification (for a minimum of 3-5 years).
• Experience with working on DAF tankers/trailers.
• Computer literate.
• High level of safety awareness.
• Flexible to work a rotating shift pattern, including weekends.
