Job summary

Pertemps Warrington is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician based at the St Helens depot to maintain and repair depot vehicles, ensuring safety and reliability on a rotating shift from 6am to 9pm, including some weekends.

This permanent role offers a salary of £45,635 per year plus allowances and bonus, with annual pay increases and a strong pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Must be time served as an HGV technician.
• Experience with hazardous vehicles and tankers is advantageous.
• Hold a valid Class 1 licence with CPC certification.
• Experience with DAF tankers/trailers preferred.
• Computer literacy and good safety awareness required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake planned and defect maintenance on mechanical and cryogenic systems.
• Liaise with external maintenance contractors as needed.
• Minimise vehicle downtime and respond to peak demands for availability.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed and contribute to safety agendas.
• Couple/uncouple motive units from tankers/trailers.

Based at the St Helens depot, this permanent Vehicle Maintenance Technician role supports the safe, efficient running of a global industrial gases and engineering company’s fleet. Working a rotating shift pattern between 6am and 9pm, including some weekends, the successful candidate undertakes planned maintenance and repairs across depot vehicles, diagnosing faults and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Applicants should bring proven mechanical experience, strong diagnostic ability and a methodical approach to record-keeping. As the Vehicle Maintenance Technician your duties will be;

• Undertake Planned & Defect Maintenance activities for both Mechanical and Cryogenic Systems.
• Liaise as and when required with external maintenance contractors and other bodies e.g. DAF.
• Minimise vehicle downtime and react to peak demands for vehicle availability.
• Consistently ensure all safety procedures are followed, playing a key role in safety agendas.
• Coupling and uncoupling of motive units/towing vehicles from tankers/trailers.

The successful Vehicle Maintenance Technician will have the following skills;

• Must be time served HGV Technician.
• Must have a solid work history within a similar role, working on hazardous vehicles and tankers would be advantageous.
• Must hold a valid Class 1 licence with CPC certification (for a minimum of 3-5 years).
• Experience with working on DAF tankers/trailers.
• Computer literate.
• High level of safety awareness.
• Flexible to work a rotating shift pattern, including weekends.
